Thanksgiving Basket Project

Thanksgiving is around the corner and we are collecting Thanksgiving baskets for the families of Notre Dame Schools

Notre Dame has expanded and is now a full K5-8 school (Notre Dame Primary School & Notre Dame Middle School). This means the need for baskets is even greater than in the past.  Notre Dame Schools now educate students from 293 families.  Our GOAL is to donate 293 baskets allowing every family to receive one (without this donation most of the families go without a traditional meal).  Working together on this basket project, we can make this happen!!  94% of the families who have children attending the Notre Dame Schools live in poverty.  Receiving these baskets is truly one of the highlights of the year for these families.   It is through your generosity that we are able to make a difference and bring happiness to an entire school community.

Please join us in providing a basket filled with a turkey and items for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for a Notre Dame family. Please contact WSC Member Krista Wegner for drop off details: Krisbwegner@gmail.com

Families helping Families Project

Word went out to the Women’s Soccer Club Community that a family was in dire straits. A single father and his family of 11 children – one child with special needs needed everything for their home. We were given the task of a quick turnaround of a week. The results of the WSC members generosity was incredible! Both soccer facilities, Midwest Orthopedic Sports Complex in Brookfield and Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee agreed to have their sites as our drop off. In one week, we were able to help this family out. There was such overwhelming generosity, there was no room to park cars in the garage. Whatever is not needed by the family will be taken to the Hope Center in Waukesha WI! They work hand in hand with a Women’s Shelter. Also, items will be dropped off at the Hope House of Love as they take used bedding and blankets – spreading out as much as we can with the leftover items. Gifts and stockings for the family were wrapped with the newer items so they have something to open on Christmas under their new donated Christmas tree. See photos. THANK YOU WSC Community! You are amazing!

History

In 2008, the 501c3 nonprofit Women’s Charities, Inc [WCI] was created. “Old and new-found friends reached out to me in my time of need. They got involved in my life and supported my family when my son Leo was having 1/2 of his brain removed due to epilepsy. Their amazing support inspired me to found the Women’s Soccer Club in 2000 and included the WCI eight years later as I continued to find strength through numbers.” It is the basis for the WCI’s supportive soccer club community of women called the GetInvolved Program.
